At CC Atlántico we joined the motorsport family once again and, over several days in June, we became the beating heart of the XXII Santa Lucía de Tirajana-Gran Canaria Dirt Rally 2026 — the island’s only dirt rally and the opening round of the Canary Islands Championship. From the official presentation to the start and the finish, we lived through an event that proved once more that “dirt” racing is more alive than ever.
It all started here: the presentation on Monday the 15th
On Monday the 15th we hosted the rally’s first big event, organised by CD. Evesport, in a venue designed with a true racing atmosphere: an exhibition of rally cars and an autograph session that drew plenty of fans — even competing with the Football World Cup — alongside drivers such as Juan Carlos Quintana, Vicente Arencibia, Cristian Calderín and Alejandro Martín.
For us it was far more than an event. As our director, Alberto Medina, put it: “Motorsport and retail go hand in hand in this municipality, and especially in Vecindario; thanks to the venue at CC Atlántico we can be part of all this energy through the rally.” It is a partnership we are proud of and one we invite every fan to enjoy.
Start and finish venue: Friday the 19th and Saturday the 20th
On Friday evening the 19th, our outdoor car park hosted the technical scrutineering and, at 8:00 p.m., the official start ceremony for both the rally and the dirt speed event. Saturday the 20th brought the competition itself, with eight timed stages run under the heat of southern Gran Canaria, in the Barranco de Tirajana and Bahía Feliz areas.
In all, 57 teams were entered across the rally and the speed event — cars, car-crosses and three quads — a large and competitive list that confirmed the discipline’s good health.
Quintana and Hernández, champions with a clean sweep
The outright victory went to Juan Carlos Quintana and Jonathan Hernández (Skoda Fabia R5), who delivered a genuine clean sweep by winning each and every stage. Joining them on the podium were Borja Pérez and Rubén Pérez (Skoda Fabia R5) in second, and Gustavo Sosa and Maite Gutiérrez (Hyundai i20 N Rally2) in third, 3 minutes and 32 seconds behind the winner.
Thank you for living it with us
From CC Atlántico, our thanks go to Evesport, to the federations, to the institutions and, above all, to the drivers, co-drivers and fans who filled every day with excitement. Motorsport and retail go hand in hand, and we love that the road runs right through here. See you at the next one!
